2008 Democratic National Convention

In August 2008, Ken traveled to Denver for the historic 2008 Democratic National Convention to officially nominate Barack Obama for President. Ken had previously worked hard to give Obama an edge in the Maryland presidential primary. In Denver, Ken joined Governor Martin O'Malley, Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin and Congressman Elijah Cummings to represent the great state of Maryland.

In Denver, Ken touted Howard County's accomplishment in healthcare, education and the environment. Ken and his brother Doug, president of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, spoke of the need for affordable healthcare for all and how Howard County is already making strides locally.
